Even if you’ve not bothered with craft activities since your days in school, creating something with your hands, from spare items found around your home, can provide a wonderful sense of accomplishment. So, what crafts can you try that won’t inadvertently break the bank by requiring you to purchase every element from scratch?
Below are a few crafty creations that you can build largely from items you already have. You may need to borrow a few pieces, or to drop by a thrift store (if open) or order a few small pieces online, but for the most part, you’re likely to be able to get started on these pieces right away.
Transforming drinking straws into a horse
We all want to save the turtles by eliminating the use of plastic drinking straws. If you still have a few hanging around the house, you can re-purpose these and have your children create a cute galloping horse using only straws, a paperclip, a pin and a rubber band (plus some decorative paper for the head).
Follow the steps outlined in this animation to transform these few common items into a cool, novelty toy.
